Conservation Society has the post of Conservation Officer on its
Executive Committee. This person monitors planning applications in the
area, and brings them to the attention of the Committee. This includes
work to be affected by (e.g.) tree-preservation orders. Where plans are
especially controversial we hold public meetings when we invite the
developer to present the proposals to members, and other interested
At the first opportunity, plans are discussed by the Committee, and a response agreed, which is then forwarded to Newark and Sherwood District Council.
Whilst MCS is not a statutory consultee, the planners do contact us for our views and we are regularly in contact with Newark Town Council and Newark Civic Trust, when they are putting together their responses to local applications.
