The Millgate Conservation Society

Plans  and MCS

The Millgate Conservation Society has the post of Conservation Officer on its Executive Committee. This person monitors planning applications in the area, and brings them to the attention of the Committee. This includes work to be affected by (e.g.) tree-preservation orders. Where plans are especially controversial we hold public meetings when we invite the developer to present the proposals to members, and other interested parties.

At the first opportunity, plans are discussed by the Committee, and a response
agreed, which is then forwarded to Newark and Sherwood District Council.

Whilst MCS is not a statutory consultee, the planners do contact us for our views and we are regularly in contact with Newark Town Council and Newark Civic Trust, when they are putting together their responses to local applications.
